Meeting with Carrie

Our purpose for meeting potential clients informally is simply to get to know them. The process of choosing your midwife is important as you are inviting us to be in your life at memorable moments. Whether you are prepared with a list of questions or simply don't know what to ask, the initial meeting will help you get a feel for Carrie and what she is all about.

Check ups and appointments

An appointment with your midwife can be as custom as you would like. An advantage to home births is the ability for your family to be involved. Children are welcome and often enjoy hearing a new siblings heart beat. As with most maternity appointments you will be able to hear the baby's heart beat. State mandated vitals and tests will be taken and a question and answer session enables us to see where you are in nutrition and allows for you to ask questions, if we haven't already discussed it in an email or on the phone.

Typically, this takes place in Carrie's Little Rock office or your home.

The birth

Once you go into active labor Carrie will instruct you on what needs to be done. Generally your midwife comes after the contractions have sped up. All items needed for birth are already placed in an appointed area before labor begins. The environment is set up according to your birth plan.
